Ecotips is founded and managed by two teens located in New York. Inspired by the School Strike For Climate movement founded in 2018 by Greta Thumberg, we wanted to take action ourselves and educate others on the crisis our Earth is facing. We started Ecotips on Instagram in 2020, during the height of the pandemic. Why did we start off on social media? Social media plays a large part in most lives of modern youth, our target audience. Being teens ourselves, we are aware that the future of our planet is dependent on our generation. We may be one of the last generations capable of preserving Earth before it's too late. Having experience on social media, we decided that spreading our message through online platforms would be the most effective way to reach youth. Since Ecotips was founded during the covid-19 pandemic, social media was also the safest way to raise awareness. Our content began by sharing ways to practice sustainability during the pandemic, but has grown into a blog about all types of environmental issues.
